To estimate the volume required at each work station, note the usage of gas required for various equipment and/or cutting tips and note the highest volume required.

To provide a more accurate estimate, consider how often (if ever) all stations would require this amount of gas at the same time and then reduce the calculated amount accordingly. We often use 70-80% as the factor.

EXAMPLE: If the highest volume needed from any one of ten (10) work stations is 10 scfh, the volume you would use for this field is 10. However, knowing that not all workstations need and/or will use this flow at the same time, you could use 7 or 8 as the ‘Volume Required’.

1. Identify where the cylinders and manifold will be located for the piping system.
2. Using building plans, tape measures, or an electronic measuring device such as the measuring app on your
   smart phone, measure where the pipe will be installed.  This includes pipe runs up, across, and
   down, starting at where the cylinders will be located with a piping system and ending at each point of
   use.
3. After adding all these up, select the next largest value for this field.
